1.

HONGKONG HARBOUR DEVELOPMENT.

Referring to my interview with yourself and the

Hon. Director of Public Works on 3rd inst., I have the

honour to report as follows on the two points on which

my opinion was asked, viz:-

(1) Whether the proposed Reclamation between

North Point and quarry Bay could be

advantageously developed for shipping

purposes; and

(2) Whether the lay-out of the piers in the

Hung Hom Bay Development plan, as

recommended by Messrs. Coode, Fitzmaurice,

Wilson & Mitchell, could be modified,

without detriment to the general scheme,

so as to provide one or more deep-draft

steamer berthe easily accessible from the

existing property of Messrs. Alfred Holt

& Co. at Kowloon Point.

2.

1.

North Point Reclamation.

In this connection I have had the benefit of

reading the Minutes of the Director of Public Works dated 13/6/22, 7/3/23, and 4/4/23, Messrs. Coode, Fitzmaurice, Wilson & Mitchell's Report of 7/10/22, and Mr. Duncan's

memorandum of 9/1/23.

Referring to this report of the Consulting

Engineers, it appears that they consider the North Point

Fon. The Colonial Secretary,

HONGKONG.
